El alemán Sebastián Vettel, piloto de Ferrari, aseguró este jueves que su escudería no es favorita para ganar el próximo domingo el Gran Premio de México, donde no ve la bandera a cuadros desde 1990.

«Definitivamente, no somos favoritos, hay que ver la pista, es complicada, hay muchas curvas, por lo que no nos servirá de mucho la eficiencia aerodinámica, esa parte de nuestro auto no será un factor a favor para nosotros», explicó el alemán en conferencia de prensa en el Autódromo de la Ciudad de México.

«Tenemos que reconocer que en este 2019 las curvas han sido nuestra debilidad y vamos a ver cómo lidiamos con ellas en este circuito».

En las cuatro ediciones del Gran Premio de México desde 2015, Ferrari no tiene ninguna victoria. En 2017 Kimi Raikkoinen quedó tercero y en 2018 Sebastian Vettel fue segundo.

Su más reciente triunfo en la pista mexicana se dio en 1990 con Alain Prost.

«No podría decir que hoy es la mejor oportunidad para volver a ganar en México, eso lo podremos contestar el próximo domingo y de todas maneras, si no lo conseguimos, aquí estaremos para volver a intentarlo el año que viene», sentenció.

Sebastián Vettel es quinto en la clasificación de pilotos con 212 puntos, mientras que su coequipero, Charles Lecrerc marcha en tercero con 223. Ninguno tiene posibilidad de acceder al título de la Fórmula Uno de este año.

En el campeonato de constructores, Ferrari marcha en el segundo lugar con 435 puntos, por 612 que tiene la escudería Mercedes.

«Para este fin de semana en la configuración del auto no tenemos que preocuparnos del equilibrio de carga, la altitud de México nos pide que nos centremos más en las curvas para encontrar el agarre que haga al auto más eficiente», explicó el alemán.
