HOUSTON (jueves 27 de febrero de 2020) – El Rio Grande Valley FC, afiliado híbrido del Campeonato USL del Houston Dynamo, anunció hoy que el club ha firmado al delantero Garrett McLaughlin y al mediocampista Luka Prpa, pendientes de aprobación de la liga y la federación. Ambos jugadores fueron seleccionados por el Houston Dynamo en el SuperDraft MLS 2020.

McLaughlin fue seleccionado por el Dynamo con la octava selección general en el SuperDraft MLS 2020 y vio acción en 76 juegos con 68 aperturas durante su carrera de cuatro años en la Southern Methodist University. El delantero anotó 37 goles y anotó 13 asistencias con los Mustangs y obtuvo el honor del Primer Equipo de la American Athletic Conference en 2019. El nativo de Oklahoma terminó su temporada senior como el máximo goleador del equipo con 16 goles, terminando segundo en la American Athletic Conference y séptimo en la NCAA.

Prpa fue seleccionado en la segunda ronda del SuperDraft MLS 2020 y lideró a Marquette en el centro del campo a partir de 60 de 66 juegos jugados a lo largo de su carrera universitaria de cuatro años. El centrocampista anotó 18 goles y anotó 21 asistencias, ganando el All-Big East Second Team en 2017 y 2019, así como All-Big East First Team en 2018.

Ambos jugadores serán elegibles para la selección el viernes cuando Rio Grande Valley cierre la pretemporada contra San Antonio FC en Toyota Field.
