Una niña de 2 años, impactada por una pelota de foul durante un juego de los Astros de Houston en el Minute Maid Park, continúa recibiendo medicamentos para evitar convulsiones, siete meses después de que el golpe le provocó una lesión cerebral, dijo un abogado de su familia.

Mithoff añadió que los médicos han descrito los efectos de la lesión en el sistema nervioso similar de la niña, y los han equiparado con los de una embolia cerebral. Las áreas afectadas del cerebro incluyen aquellas en que las lesiones pueden derivar en convulsiones, desaparición de sensaciones y pérdida de la percepción espacial.

Otros efectos potenciales incluyen periodos de coma o ausencia, jaquecas frecuentes y terror nocturno, comentó el abogado.

Hasta ahora, los médicos no han podido determinar si la menor padece algún déficit cognitivo, debido a la fractura craneal y a la lesión cerebral que se derivaron del golpe del 29 de mayo.
