El safety dos veces elegido al Pro Bowl, Mike Adams, se retira después de una carrera de 16 años, anunciando su decisión el miércoles en NFL Network.
Adams, quien cumple 39 años de edad el 24 de marzo, jugó para los Houston Texans la temporada pasada después de firmar en octubre cuando el safety Justin Reid lidiaba con una lesión en el hombro. Adams participó en seis partidos de temporada regular y sumó tres derribos.
Ha estado en la liga desde el 2004, cuando firmó con los San Francisco 49ers como agente libre no reclutado de Delaware. Fue votado al Pro Bowl en el 2014 y 2015, cuando jugaba para los Indianapolis Colts.
Antes de unirse a los Texans, Adams inició los 32 partidos de temporada regular para los Carolina Panthers a lo largo de las campañas del 2017 y 2018.
También ha jugado para los Cleveland Browns y Denver Broncos, y suma más de 30 intercepciones de por vida, con 930 tacleadas, seis capturas, 13 balones sueltos forzados y dos touchdowns. Realizó seis tacleadas durante la derrota de Denver en el Super Bowl XLVIII en febrero del 2014.
