Al 91′, justo cuando Portugal se saboreaba un triunfo en el debut en la Copa Confederaciones Rusia 2017, el defensa central empató el partido, el 2-2, un cabezazo sólido en el que el balón pegó en el poste izquierdo antes de besar la red, en una jugada en la que el mexicano superó la marca de Fonte, uno de los más altos de Portugal, tras un tiro de esquina.

Antes de que acabara el primer tiempo, el mismo delantero voló el esférico tras una genialidad de Vela y un gran pase de Raúl Jiménez.

Pero a México no lo salvó dos veces el Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Al 85′, cuando parecía que el 1-1 estaba firmado, Gelson superó a Miguel Layún por la banda derecha y mandó un centro a Cédric, cuyo disparo fue desviado por Héctor Herrera, un golpe duro, pero del que el Tri supo reponerse.

Y ahí apareció Moreno, con la fórmula de la casa ya que el Tri ha ganado cuatro partidos en Eliminatoria con goles a balón parado y ahora fue capaz de dañar así a Cristiano y a muchos millones de dólares de la nómina portuguesa.

«Me parece que representamos muy dignamente al futbol mexicano y de pronto merecíamos una cosita de más», dijo Juan Carlos Osorio al finalizar el partido.

El miércoles, México enfrenta a Nueva Zelanda en Sochi, en un partido en el que está obligado a ganar para jugarse la vida en el cierre del Grupo A el 24 de junio frente al anfitrión Rusia.
