El día sábado, el icónico pateador de la NFL, Thomas John Dempsey mejor conocido como Tom Dempsey, falleció en la ciudad de Nueva Orleans a los 73 años a causa del coronavirus. El pasado 25 de marzo fue diagnosticado con COVID-19.

Además de Dempsey, más de 15 residentes de la casa de retiro Lambeth House han fallecido a consecuencias al mortal virus y se convierte en el segundo exjugador de la NFL en fallecer por el COVID-19.

Desde su nacimiento, Dempsey no tenía dedos en su mano y pie derecho. Situación que lo llevó a obtener un zapato especial para poder patear el ovoide.

Los años de gloria los vivió con el equipo de los Santos de Nueva Orleans de 1969-1970.
