El boxeador mexicano Andy Ruiz logró llevarse el título por nocaut en siete rounds contra Anthony Joshua, rebatándole así los tres títulos mundiales de peso completo, convirtiéndose así en el primero boxeador de peso completo de México.

Fue en el Madison Square Garden donde el inglés Joshua debutaba en América. En el tercer round, Joshua puso a Ruiz en el suelo del ring, sin embargo el cachanilla se levantó, logrando sorprender a su oponente.

«Fue la primera vez que me mandaron a la lona y por eso me levanté con mas determinación. Fui para adelante porque soy un guerrero mexicano y tengo el estilo mexicano y lo acabo de demostrar», dijo el mexicano que ahora tiene los títulos de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, Federación Internacional de Boxeo y de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo. 

Ruiz es el segundo latinoamericano en lograr el título de la máxima categoría, anteriormente sólo lo había logrado el boricua John Ruiz.
