Sergio Pérez, del equipo Racing Point y quien corre en la Fórmula Uno, fue elegido como uno de los mejores 50 pilotos del mundo entre las diversas categorías que existen en el automovilismo.

La prestigiosa revista Autosport seleccionó a los 50 mejores conductores del deporte motor, donde «Checo» fue ubicado en el décimo octavo lugar del conteo.

El tapatío culminó la temporada 2019 de la Fórmula Uno en el décimo lugar del Campeonato de Pilotos y el magazine destacó que fue el «piloto que más puntos anotó en la clasificación en la segunda mitad de la campaña», además de que superó a su coequipero, el canadiense Lance Stroll.

El número uno de los 50 pilotos fue el campeón del «Gran Circo», el británico Lewis Hamilton, quien acumuló su sexto título de la máxima categoría del deporte motor, seguido del holandés Max Verstappen, de Red Bull, quien fue tercero de la F1, y del estonio Ott Tanak, monarca de la WRC.

En el listado destacaron, en el octavo lugar, el alemán Rene Rast, monarca del serial DTM; en el décimo peldaño se colocó el francés Jean-Eric Vergne, vigente campeón de la Fórmula E, y en el puesto 13 el estadunidense Josef Newgarden, vencedor de la IndyCar.

En el lugar 19 se situó el español Fernando Alonso, quien fue campeón de la FIA WEC, por detrás del holandés Nyck de Vries, vencedor de la Fórmula Dos.

El estadunidense Kyle Bush se ubicó en el sitio 27 tras ganar el título de la NASCAR Cup. La lista de los 50 mejores pilotos del mundo la completó el francés Pierre Gasly, de Fórmula Uno, quien consiguió un segundo puesto en la campaña.
