VENEZUELA — Un ataque de tres carreras en el quinto capítulo resultó definitivo en la victoria de los Cardenales de Lara por 5-3 sobre los Tigres de Aragua, con lo que amarraron el primer lugar en la campaña regular de la Liga Venezolana de Béisbol Profesional.
Jesús Montero bateó de 4-1 con tres carreras producidas, y Rangel Ravelo bateó de 5-3 con dos anotadas.
La victoria fue para el abridor César Jiménez (4-3) con cinco capítulos, en los que admitió siete hits y tres carreras. Perdió Diego Moreno (1-5), castigado con dos imparables y tres anotaciones en un episodio de relevo.
En Puerto La Cruz, los Bravos de Margarita atacaron con seis carreras en la segunda entrada, para arrollar 15-3 a los Caribes de Anzoátegui y mantener vivas sus aspiraciones de clasificarse a la postemporada.
Angelo Castellano conectó de 5-3, con tres carreras producidas y dos anotadas. Carlos García tuvo también noche de tres remolcadas, Willie Argo bateó de 4-2 con dos empujadas y dos anotadas y Breyvic Valera añadió un doble remolcador de dos anotaciones.
El abridor Randy Boone (1-1) permitió tres imparables y dos carreras en seis capítulos para anotarse el triunfo, y perdió Shane Youman (2-3), castigado con seis hits y seis anotaciones en apena una entrada y un tercio.
En Caracas, las Águilas del Zulia armaron una rebelión de cinco anotaciones en la parte alta de la novena entrada para revertir una pizarra adversa y derrotar por 6-4 a los Leones del Caracas, que ven ahora complicadas sus aspiraciones de postemporada.

En Valencia, José Martínez y Christian Marrero sacudieron sendos sencillos remolcadores en la primera entrada, en apoyo a una sólida apertura de Jonathan Albaladejo para llevar a los Tiburones de La Guaira a una victoria por 2-1 sobre los Navegantes del Magallanes.
Albadalejo (1-3), toleró cuatro hits y una carrera en seis entradas para anotarse la victoria, mientras que la derrota fue al registro de Eduardo Rodríguez (1-1), tras conceder tres imparables y dos anotaciones en apenas un tercio de inning.
Los Cardenales (37-24) son los líderes, seguidos por Caribes (33-28), Zulia (33-29), Tiburones (30-32), Tigres (29-32), Navegantes (28-33), Margarita (28-33) y Leones (27-34).
Este miércoles, Zulia visita a Magallanes, Margarita a Leones, Caribes a Tigres y Tiburones a Cardenales.
