Para la reanudación de la primera ronda de los Playoffs ante los Cañeros, en Los Mochis, Los Charros de Jalisco contarán con Roberto Osuna, puesto que la directiva de los Astros de Houston le autorizó al joven de Juan José Ríos lanzar en la Liga Mexicana del Pacífico, así lo dio a conocer el periodista Marco Arellano de Cancha.
«El cerrador de los Astros ya habría recibido el permiso de Houston para lanzar en la Liga Mexicana del Pacífico y todo quedaría resuelto uno vez que se defina el porcentaje de su sueldo que se donaría a una fundación» publicó Arellano.

El 30 de diciembre en Culiacán, el serpentinero le dijo al mánager Roberto Vizcarra que los Astros estaban en condiciones de dejarlo lanzar en invierno, sólo era cuestión de que Salvador Quirarte, dueño del equipo, se comunicara con Jeff Luhnow, gerente general de Houston.

Ante esto, Jalisco activó al cerrador en su roster de postemporada.

Osuna le ha comentado a Quirarte, presidente del Consejo de Administración de los Charros, que no ha descuidado su acondicionamiento y que ha realizado bullpen para llegar en condiciones y que en cuanto le dieran la autorización de lanzar los Astros, él ya estaba listo para subir a la loma con los Charros.

Para los tres juegos en el Estadio Emilio Ibarra Almada, los campeones de la MexPac mandarán a la loma a sus abridores Marco Tovar, Manuel Flores y Austin Bibens-Dirkx, la afición ya saborea ver en el centro del diamante a Osuna que en esta temporada salvó 38 juegos para los Astros, que sucumbieron en la Serie Mundial frente a los Nacionales de Washington en siete peleados encuentros.
