José Altuve descargó un jonrón temprano, Gerrit Cole neutralizó a la inoperante ofensiva de Nueva York y los Astros de Houston doblegaron el martes 4-1 a los Yanquis para tomar una ventaja de 2-1 en la Serie de Campeonato de la Liga Americana.

Altuve y Josh Reddick batearon cuadrangulares solitarios contra sendos sliders de Luis Severino, quien se las arregló para cubrir cuatro innings y un tercio por los Yanquis.

La astucia de Altuve también fue factor en las dos carreras que Houston manufacturó de manera más elemental en el séptimo episodio para despegarse: el venezolano avanzó de primera a tercera y anotó tras un lanzamiento descontrolado de Zach Britton. Acto seguido, Yuli Gurriel remolcó otra con un elevado al derecho.

Después de caer como locales en el primer juego, los Astros se pusieron a dos victorias de volver a una Serie Mundial (conquistaron su primera corona en 2017 tras eliminar a Nueva York en una serie de campeonato que se definió en siete juegos).

Fue el cuatro jonrón de Altuve en esta postemporada, y su primero en la serie. También llegó a 12 cuadrangulares en su carrera en la postemporada.

Reddick agregó otro jonrón solitario en el segundo episodio ante Severino para aumentar la diferencia.

Fue un durísimo primer acto para el derecho dominicano, que debió invertir 36 pitcheos, pero contuvo el daño a una carrera al dejar las bases llenas y pudo mantener cerca a los Yanquis.

El cuarto juego de la serie al mejor de siete está previsto para la noche de este miércoles, pero está en duda. Hay pronóstico de fuertes lluvia para toda la noche en Nueva York, y se podría dar una posposición que alterará los planes de pitcheo de ambos equipos.
