El América perdió 2-1 contra Tigres en el juego de ida de los Cuartos de Final y por primera vez en 9 torneos con Miguel Herrera peligra su clasificación a las Semifinales.

Las Águilas se adelantaron en el marcador al 40′ por conducto de Richard Sánchez, jugada en la que Paul Aguilar mandó un servicio violento, el portero Miguel Ortega (sustituto de Nahuel Guzmán) rechazó al centro, justo a la ubicación del volante paraguayo que con un fierrazo adelantó a los de casa.

El América, como era de esperarse, se lanzó con fiereza al ataque, pero careció de puntería para dañar al suplente de Nahuel.

Ahora América tiene que ir a Monterrey y ganar al menos por diferencia de dos goles o bien del 3-2 en adelante.

En las ocho Liguillas con Miguel Herrera como técnico, América siempre clasificó a la Semifinal.
